Scarves are a great accessory which can create an elegant look. Many years ago, there were only two common uses for a scarf. The first was to keep the neck warm in cold weather and the other was to cover bad hair or to stop perspiration dripping into the eyes. There are many ways to wear scarves now which can make you look very stylish and chic if done well. The tying part may seem a bit boring but is easy when you know how. Here are some suggestions on different ways to wrap and tie a scarf.

Worn as a bow in front of the neck. Take the scarf and fold it over and over diagonally until it is just two inches wide. Wrap around neck with the tips dangling loosely in front. Tie what is left into a bow as close to your neck as you can.

Wearing as a shawl. Fold the scarf in a triangle and bring the opposite ends together. Have both ends in front and drape over your shoulders. Make a knot in the ends leaving about one inch in length for the two ends.

Try a head wrap. Put the scarf over the head, with the front side sitting smoothly on the flat on the forehead then tie the ends at the back on your neck leaving a loose cover for your head. Leave two inches in length for the ends. If required, fix with a clear hair pin or clip.

It can be wrapped around your waist like a belt. For this one you are going to need a longer than normal scarf. Fold the scarf diagonally until it is about three inches wide. Envelop the waist with the scarf, with the ends hanging at the left or right side {(it is up to you) around your waist. Tie ends in a knot. The scarf can hang loosely towards the middle of the hips or longer.

There are any other ways to tie or wrap a scarf. You should express your creativity. Think about using a scarf as a waist sash, or a bandana. Be sure to tie the knots so that it won’t not fall off when you least expect it!

A scarf is a fashion accessory which never goes out of style – you won’t be far from a chic, elegant look if you wrap and tie frequently.
