Jody Kilthau
You may very well have seen posts by Jody on Nextdoor, where she actively helps dogs find foster and forever homes.
Jody and her husband Eddie are “natives” to Dobbins Creek, moving here in 2002 and Jody volunteered at the Humane Center helping with adoptions from 2002-2024 and now spends her volunteer time at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. They have three rescues of their own: Shadow, a 13 year old Pit-bull they fostered and fell in love with, Odee, a Pit mix, adopted from the Humane Society, and Lucky, an Irish Terrier mix she rescued from the streets. You can say they’re all “lucky”.
Jody shared some good advice on what to do if you see or capture a loose pet:
Secure the pet if you can
Report to MCACC whether you have the dog or have sighted one
Post the pet on facebook pages (there are many - even specific to breeds) for lost and found pets
Post on the neighborhood app.
Remember, the MCACC website has information on what to do if you find a pet
There are many ways to help pets in shelters:
Post on social media (there are lists of dogs on shelter wesites)
Visit a shelter and hand out treats (it helps shy dogs so they have a better chance of adoption)
Blankets and Toys are always needed
Amazon wish list - When you purchase, items are delivered directly
